Well, 2004 is over. Bye. There was good and bad. Highs and lows. overall though, I count it on the plus side. The family is doing well, I have lost almost 250 lbs. and life is good.
2004 has been a year of retrospect and evaluation. I have strengthened my faith, rexamined my politics and deepened friendships. Several years ago I had an epiphany. Everything I knew, all I had learned, the so many disconnected subjects and facts all seemed to materialize. I felt like for the first time that I got it, I understood who I am. It was a powerful experience. At the time I didn't expect there would be more. Yet, as I re-evaluated life in general, I seemed to find a new clarity. Heh, cool!
So things seem a bit clearer as 2005 begins. I spent New Years Eve and day with Patti, Wesley, our friends Wes & Cheryl and Cheryl's folks. A good time was had by all. Shared stories, treats, munchies and some DVD's; Napoleon Dynamite and a couple Red Green episodes. There was a bonfire loaded with fireworks. In the morning we got up, sat out on the porch (it was nearly 70 degrees out and sunny) Wesley picked a dandilion in bloom, the bees buzzed, the birds sang and we wasted the afternoon in the hottub. It was difficult to belive it was January first. I Opened up my birthday present from Patti & Wesley and it was my first denim jacket. Sooooo cool. I mean, I have always been cool, but now with my new jean jacket everyone else will know too. I wanted to stop by the Harley Davison store in New Castle on the way home to get a patch for the back, but being New Years day, they probably weren't open. I am considering something cusotom for the jacket. I have narrowed it down to either, "Jesus Saves, but if you cut me off again I will kick in your teeth!" or "Born to Raise LAZARUS" not sure which one I will go with. Then, this morning on the way to church at Lake Pleasant, there was a beautiful bald eagle that came down and snatched a rabbit off the side of the road then without stopping flew in front of the car about 20 feet ahead and with three big flaps was off into the trees. It was an impressive sight. I think I am seeing things that before just stayed in the peripheral. Details I never knew or at least didn't acknowledge seem to be more vivid now. Can't wait to see what's next. God is good. . . All the time.
